What kind of fish is better to start a novice?

New aquariums are very unstable due to the fact that they did not form the necessary microflora (beneficial bacteria that remove harmful substances). And even if you add bacterial preparations (they are sold in pet stores), conditions may not be suitable for delicate fish.

Discussions are very beautiful. And very complex.

Fish that are generally not worth starting for beginners, we reviewed here. Here is a list of fish that can be problematic:
Algae-eating catfish - antsistrusy, loricaria, otocyclones. They just will not have enough food.
Somiki digging in the ground - they need a solid feeding, which falls to the bottom, and it is alike to feed fish in a new aquarium.
Hybrids - fish obtained as a result of breeding, as a rule, have weakened immunity and are demanding of conditions. For example, discus, bright forms of guppy.
Large species of fish are usually aggressive, they should also be the first to get them.

Swordtails are a good choice.

What remains among the fish for beginners? Yes, many species. (And we also have an article: Top 10 aquarium fish for beginners) For example:

  • Guppies of simple breeds are an amazing example of unpretentiousness.
  • Mollies - coal black beauty and not demanding of conditions.
  • Gourami, such as marble. Can live almost without oxygen in the water.
  • Males are very beautiful and not demanding. Just do not plant them with their own kind! About roosters by reference
  • Sword bearers and petilia are active, vibrant and livable.
  • Danio - grace and small size.
  • Tetras are neons, ternuts are wonderful peaceful and beautiful fishes.

It is difficult to immediately understand which fish are suitable for you and will live. Advice - start with the simplest ones, guppies, for example. Let them live with you for a while. You will learn the tricks of aquarism, and go to the more complex types.

What kind of fish to have a novice aquarist?

Thrown to the wind a lot of money can quickly disappoint those who want to have fish, and he generally give up his hobby. Let's consider what kind of fish is better for a beginner to have, so that his aquarium would look stylish and beautiful. After all, there are many unpretentious creatures that look no less vivid and impressive than the expensive specimens that experienced fans chase after.

Fish in the aquarium for beginners

  1. Guppy. It is difficult to name the fish more unpretentious than guppies. By the way, it was these gentle creatures that were the first of their brethren to master space, which once again testifies to their undemanding nature. It has even been observed that they love aquariums more than natural reservoirs. True, the females they do not particularly shine with beauty, but the males are pleased with an abundance of colors.
  2. Danio. Small schooling fish danios are peaceful and will not attack other inhabitants of your small body of water. Although they are pretty bouncy, so do not leave the aquarium without a cap. Try to keep the water fresh, and danios will long please their owner with beauty.
  3. Barbusses. Considering the aquarium fish for a beginner, we should not forget about the barbs, which number about two hundred species. But they can get a little more calm and peace-loving neighbors, plucking thread-like fins.
  4. Somics. If you have purchased barbs, then you can share the speckled catfish. They may not shine with charm, but these fish are friendly and take root in almost any aquarium.
  5. Gourami. Moving gourami differ tolerance and curiosity. It is interesting that for breathing they successfully adapted to use atmospheric oxygen. Therefore, make sure that the aquarium has access to fresh air.
  6. Swordtails. Omnivorous and calm swordtails are excellent neighbors for most fish. They may live well in a small tank, but they behave better in spacious aquariums. Also, like the danios, the swordtails can jump out, so do not leave your water world without a covering.

Newbies often make unknowingly unpardonable mistakes in any business, and aquarium fish are no exception. There are such types of living beings that need special knowledge and care, only experienced amateurs undertake to tinker with expensive exotic fish. Our article on which fish is better to buy in the aquarium for beginners will help you make a good choice.

What kind of fish to settle in a 20-liter aquarium

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to buy a large aquarium. But almost everyone wants to have at home his own little underwater world, which would bring a lot of positive emotions and become a source of joy for the whole family. In this situation, the best option could be an aquarium of 20 liters, which harmoniously fits into a small room, will greatly facilitate cleaning time and cost much less. And if you listen to the opinion of aquarists, in such a small aquarium, individuals of one species can feel great, thus forming a small school, completely different species of fish, or a couple of beautiful cockerel fish.

Shiny neons

The ideal option for an aquarium of approximately 20 liters is peaceful luminous neons. Due to its unpretentiousness, the neonians will feel great in a 10-liter vessel, but only if their number consists of 4 individuals. It is worth remembering that this type of fish belongs to the schooling aquatic inhabitants, so the aquarium should be a little larger.

Paying attention to the appearance of the fish, the distinctive feature of the color is a shiny blue horizontal strip, the very same body has a different color: blue, black, red and blue. By nature, charming neon-chicks are friendly, sociable, very active and playful, not picky and do not differ in complexity of content. Somiki, gupishi and minors will be good neighbors for them.

Danio - rerio

Striped aquarium danio inhabitants - rerio, another ideal option for a 20 liter reservoir. In addition to its cheerful multi-colored danio cheerful, lively and very active. That is why will become a real decoration of a small aquarium at 20 liters.

They are not picky, as they can live in water in the temperature from 16 to 30 degrees, they love vegetation and are satisfied with good natural light. Feed preferably live food, such as daphnia, cyclops or live moth. It is easy to spawn and feel best in flocks.

Friendly Guppy

The most common inhabitant of home aquariums, guppies, will not bring any trouble to their owners, which is why they are considered the best option for beginner aquarists. In addition, guppies, in addition to unpretentiousness, have many beautiful colors and are distinguished by their fecundity. After several weeks of dwelling in a 20 liter aquarium, you can find a huge number of fry, which is quite difficult to catch.

Guppis eat absolutely everything and can perfectly survive a week-long hunger strike, tolerate absolutely any temperature and can be content with natural light. But in order for the color of the fish to acquire a richer palette, it is worthwhile to install artificial lighting, pay attention to frequent feeding and periodically change the water, pouring about 1.5 liters of water into the 20-liter aquarium once a week.

Cardinals

A beautiful slender cardinal is considered one of the few fish that feel great in a small aquarium at 20 liters. The cardinals have a beautiful brown-olive color with a silvery sheen. The tail fin is bright red and has small yellow stripes. Cardinal fish in small spaces of the aquarium can reach approximately 4-5 cm.

Cardinals of friendly fish, which is why it is better to keep them in small flocks in the company of red neonchikami, danios or rhodostomusami. To make the cardinals feel at home, you need to decorate a 20-liter pond of small size with vegetation. And as the feed is perfect dry mixes and live food.

Norman Blue Eyes

A cute blue-eyed schooling fish is an ideal solution for a small aquarium. Experts believe that even in a vessel of 10 liters, these fish will be able to swim enough. A distinctive feature of the blue-eyed bird lies in the bright framing of the eye shell, which glows with neon light, thus making the atmosphere of the aquarium unusually charming.

Peaceful but a little shy blue-eyed bird will live in peaceful species of fish, but it’s better to keep large inhabitants away. Sineglazka loves various shelters, vegetation, dark ground and some free space. Eats almost all types of live food and does not disdain substitutes.

Luxurious cockerels

For beautiful cockerel fish, owners of luxurious fins and bright colors, also a reservoir of a small number of liters is also ideal. However, for the maintenance of these fish it is necessary to create certain conditions. For example, too low or high temperature can lead to diseases that will lead to the death of males. A prerequisite is the replacement of water, about a few liters per week,

The daily diet of fish is live food. You can use frozen food, or dilute their diet with flatworms or snails. They get along with swordtails, minors, catfish, gourami, etc. But active guppy fish, neons, barbs can inadvertently damage the rooster's fin fin, which will lead to fighting battles.

What you need for the aquarium, what to consider when choosing it and what kind of fish to have?

WHAT IS NECESSARY FOR THE AQUARIUM,

What to consider when choosing an aquarium and what kind of fish to have?

Tips for novice aquarists

A well-kept and beautiful aquarium is not only beautiful, but also cozy. Colored fish, which are measured in it swim, fascinate the eye and calm.

But before you choose an aquarium, be sure to calculate its size and choose the fish that live without problems together.

Now aquariums sell for every taste: square, rectangular, round. Volumes are also different - from 10 liters to one and a half tons. The most popular - from 30 to 100 liters. They are not only convenient, they can be placed anywhere in an apartment or house, they do not require thorough care and expensive equipment.

What you need to consider when choosing an aquarium?

- In large aquariums water is less often polluted than in small ones.
- Its size should correspond to the size of the fish and their number. The more fish there will inhabit the aquarium, the greater the aquarium should be.
- The shape of the aquarium should be convenient for you, so that it is easy to care for (change water, clean). Therefore, from the bizarre forms of the aquarium is better to refuse.

What should I think about when buying an aquarium?

Most aquarists do not just launch fish into an aquarium, but decorate it with algae, sculptures, grottoes, stones and aquarium soil. The latter is not mandatory if there are no live plants in the aquarium.
Aquarium soil is gravel, marble crumb, sea pebbles, laterite, clay mixed with sand and gravel, etc. When buying soil, please note that the soil layer must be at least 5 centimeters in order for the roots of aquarium plants to gain a foothold. It is desirable that the soil was without sharp edges.
For most fish, it is imperative to install a filter and aeration in the aquarium, which will pump the air and clean it.

Who gets along with whom, and who should not be settled together?

Aquarium fish, as in nature, are divided into peaceful and predators. Therefore, before the acquisition must take into account this nuance. For example, cichlids, African, piranhas are predatory fish. But nevertheless the majority of fresh-water aquarium fishes are peaceful, they perfectly coexist in one aquarium. Only some of them require individual space. In particular, the bar of Sumatra can not be kept together with guppies or cockerels. They barb can nibble on the fins. It is also very important to consider the size of the fish. Even a peaceful, but big-sized fish can eat its little neighbor. So do goldfish, which eat everything that they put in their mouths.

Aquarium fish are divided into viviparous and those that lay eggs.

Viviparsing fish breed in an artificial reservoir much faster and easier. For example, guppies, swordtails, ameca, petsilia often give birth to many fry. But the female should be removed from other fish in time, or the young fish should be quickly removed from the aquarium until other fish have eaten them.

In fish that lay their eggseverything is much more complicated. For this process, they require a special temperature and power. Most often, if people are engaged in fish unprofessionally, the latter do not lay eggs in the aquarium. In general, each fish lays its eggs in different ways and cares for its offspring. Some females, such as cichlids, carry eggs in their mouths. In nature, during this period (2-3 weeks) they do not eat anything. If the female is fertilized in an aquarium, then it is better to pull the eggs out of her mouth and put them into another container, otherwise the fish will die of starvation. Some fish lay their eggs on the surface of the water, making a nest of foam.

With that said, answering the question of what kind of fish to start with, for starters, start my advice with a viviparous, and then we'll see. Of course, this advice is not a dogma, but in any case, before you buy fish, study all the information about it - conditions of detention, water parameters, and compatibility. And then you start and buy !!!

How to care for the aquarium?

Caring for an aquarium is not only its timely cleaning, but also the use of the correct feed.
1. It is advisable not to feed the fish with live moths, as it is possible to bring an infection into the aquarium. The alternative is frozen bloodworm or dry. It is better to feed the fish twice a day and in any case not to overfeed. Excess feed decomposes and quickly spoils the water.
2. It is necessary to clean the aquarium once in 7-10 days. The frequency of cleaning depends on the size of the aquarium, the number of fish, plants, equipment, etc.
3. During cleaning, clean the filters.

4. In no case do not drain all the aquarium water. It is worth pouring only 1/3 of the liquid. If you drain all the water, the biobalance that exists in the aquarium will be disturbed.

5. Wipe bloom from the walls of the aquarium, and then add fresh water. If necessary, add preparations to soften and purify water.

Tap water for an aquarium is best not to use. It contains chlorine and heavy metals, which can be deadly to fish. Therefore, you need to clean the impurities with special conditioners.

Diseases of aquarium fish.

The most common disease among fish is ichthyoftoriosis. People call this disease "semolina". The body of the fish is covered with white small grains. The fish can be cured, the main thing is to do it in time. There are special preparations for ichthyoftoriosis, which are poured into the aquarium. At the same time it is necessary to remove filters from the aquarium.

TIP: Do not breed fish with frogs and turtles in the same aquarium. The latter are predators, so they can eat fish. In addition, the conditions of detention are different. So, for most fish a comfortable temperature of 24-26 degrees. For turtles - 28.

Prices for the most common types of fish (young):

Guppies and Swordsmen - an average of $ 0.8.

Petushki - $ 2.

Siamese cockerels - $ 5.

Goldfish - an average of $ 2.

How many fish can I put in an aquarium?

The question of how many fish can be kept in your tank cannot be answered unambiguously. Each aquarium as a person is individual. But we will show you important points and landmarks. The two main factors affect the amount - the type of fish and the power of the filter that will clean the water. Ideally, the amount should be the one your filter can handle. In other words, the filter must have time to clean the water, faster than the fish pollute it.
Classical recommendations say that about one centimeter of fish (without a tail), there should be one liter of water. That is, a 10 cm fish, about 10 liters.
But with modern equipment, moderate feeding and good care, the aquarium can hold more fish.

  • Therefore, you can focus on the type and power of your filter:

  • Bottom filter: 0.8 cm per liter
  • Internal filter - 1 cm per liter
  • Powerful internal filter - 1.2 cm per liter
  • External filter - 1.6 cm per liter
  • Powerful external filter - 1.8 cm per liter

The scheme above is only a recommendation and, above all, be guided by common sense. Your fish may not like closeness, or produce a lot of waste, or grow very large, and this recommendation can not take into account all factors.

What kind of fish is better to have? Aquarium 40 liters.

Elena Gabrielyan

I have been engaged in aquariums for 15 years and from experience I will say that for such a volume the most optimal option is an aquarium with Harazinc and Catfish.
from the characters you can Neon. Cardinals, Danio - Rherio, Minor grow up to 6 - 8 cm. Keep flocks of 6-10 fish, 2 somik Koridoras
(Mottled), Zalotisty can grow up to 10 cm. Antsistra or Gastromizon (clean the walls of the aquarium from the raid). Pterigoplicht grows to 60 cm.
Can make an aquarium and clean with guppy
Gourami, Swordsmen, Angelfish. Black Molly grows to 12-15 cm. Therefore, you will not plant many in a small aquarium, and they will not grow large in such a volume.
In the aquarium, there must be a filter with aeration and a water heater with a thermostat (all equipment is selected for the volume of the aquarium), the temperature should be 24-26 C

Aleksey lysenko

Well, firstly it is understandable, small, and secondly beautiful, for example, voile-tailed guppies, neons, (they can live together in the same aquarium)
but for example, a five-strip Sumatran barbus (which is also beautiful) cannot live with the guppy (it devours its tails), but with neon it can, on the bottom of the sand boiled a large embankment, plant algae, make a lamp for illumination, make small snails there, the water is only separated, this is about the principle.

Nice k @ thon @ k

if you take a few guppies, for example, five, then in a month you will have twenty admissible parents without trusting me, trust me in my experience, and so guppies, swordsmen, mollies. whatever you want :))))

Ekaterina Shavergina

I keep fish ten years probably. It is better to keep some gold and they like to eat plants. You can have guppies, but also keep better alone, swordtails and mollies they eat fry, it’s a pity to watch, so if you don’t plan to put fish in banks, it’s better to choose something bigger and more spectacular. If I were you, I would probably have gotten the scalars of pieces 4, they are very beautiful, and one or a couple stuck (antsitrus (smaller) or pterigoplicht (brocade catfish) it is bigger). You can still gourami, also beautiful fish. I live with scalars. And if you really want viviparous, then you can be both a guppy and swordtails and mollies. And it is not necessary to lay sand at the bottom, you can have stones, in pet stores there is usually a wide choice. And the filter is needed, well, or at least a compressor. And do not turn on turtles and all kinds of crustaceans and crabs with fish, usually it is deadly for the latter. Choose fish of approximately the same size and be guided by the principle that fish is food that counts everything that it can catch up and shove in its mouth. Therefore, it is not necessary to keep gold with neonchik.

Natalia A.

For your volume, small fish, such as guppies, mollies, swordtails, neons, rasbora, tetras, danios, barbs, gourami, liliusi, cockerels, macropods, dwarf cichlids, and catfish better than corridors, are better suited. But before you start, first find out with whom you can plant (species compatibility and conditions of detention). And the number of fish for such a volume can be calculated, if very small, such as neons. rasbor-based 1-2 liters on the fish, up to 5cm-1.5-3 liters on the fish. Good luck!

Residents for a small aquarium

And so, you read my article on the launch of a nano-aquarium, or you just wanted to start your own little water world for a long time and now you are thinking about who to settle there.

Quite a lot of options)

All the inhabitants of the underwater world can be divided into vertebrates, invertebrates and mollusks.

Vertebrates include various types of fish. To invertebrates - shrimp, crabs and crayfish. To mollusks - snails.

You can choose one of these kingdoms (for example, make a shrimp maker), or you can combine two or even all three.

The traditional is an aquarium populated by fish. Only here you cannot plant everybody in a small aquarium; you will have to choose small schooling fish or one or two medium ones.

Possible options for settling the FISH Aquarium:

1. Petushki:

Very famous and common fish. Males are very beautiful, have luxurious fan fins. Females are less elegant, but also very brightly colored. Breeders are constantly working on breeding new colors of males.

They are satisfied with small amounts of water (but, you see, keeping the fish in an aquarium of less than 5 liters is both cruel and ugly). Water temperature - ideally 26 degrees. The cockerel breathes atmospheric air, swallowing it from the surface. Therefore, care must be taken that the air in the room is not too cool. You can cover the aquarium cover, but leave a few inches from the surface of the water.

Male males are very pugnacious, so it’s best to keep them alone or in families (1 male and 3-4 females).

The body length of an adult cockerel is about 6 cm.

2. Neons

Also known Russian fish. Neons prefer to live in flocks, so it is better to settle them in groups of 5 individuals.

The water temperature is 22-25 degrees (ideally); at higher temperatures, the lifetimes of these fish are reduced. In principle, neons are unpretentious, like soft water and an abundance of plants. Prone to obesity, so they should be fed very moderately.

Adult neon can reach a length of 4 cm.

3. Danio rerio:

As a rule, these small fish are always recommended for beginners. Moving, fun and unpretentious danios feel best in flocks. They can live in the temperature range of 15-30 degrees and be content with 1 liter of water per 1 fish (that is, even in a five-liter aquarium, you can run a group of 5 zebrafish). Easily spawn in an aquarium.

There are several color forms of this fish.

Body length up to 5 cm (but more often 3-4).

4. Guppy:

Probably, it is from this fish that aquarism begins for most people. It was the guppies living in three-liter banks that became frequent inhabitants of Soviet (and then Russian) apartments. They are loved by millions for their unpretentiousness (they can live even in the most extreme conditions), beauty (thanks to the many unique colors, everyone can find "the fish of their dreams" =)) and fertility (you can buy only one female, and in a month she will give birth to you 20 fry).

Viviparous guppies, i.e. they do not spawn, but give birth to live fry. They eat absolutely everything. Water temperatures are undemanding.

At first, I really liked them, but now they multiplied uncontrollably. It even annoys me that every week I find at least 20 newborn fry in the aquarium.

The males are guppies slender, with a bright body and a luxurious tail. Samochki larger, thicker, gray and inconspicuous. But there are quite beautiful purebred females.

Breeders are constantly working on new breeds of guppy.

Dimensions: male - 3-4 cm, female - up to 6 cm.

(last 2 pics are female)

5. Guppy Endler:

In fact, the same guppy. But Endler's guppy is a wild form that breeders did not manage to work on. Such fish are found in Venezuela. easily interbreed with simple guppies and produce very cute hybrids)

Endler's guppies are smaller than ordinary guppies: males reach 2-3 cm in length. Look great in small aquariums with a dark background!

6. Corridor:

The so-called "speckled catfish". In fact, the corridors are very many species, just speckled - the most famous of them.

The corridors love the company, buy at once 3-5 individuals. These harmless catfish do not exceed 5 cm in length, some species (such as the corridor panda) do not grow more than 3 cm at all.

Unpretentious, can live without aeration. The soil should be without sharp stones so that the fish do not hurt their delicate antennae. The optimum temperature of the content - 24-26 degrees.

Water volume: at least 3-5 liters for 1 fish.

7. Corridor Pygmy:

View corridors, which is worth to say separately.

Pygmies are small schooling fishes, seemingly gray and inconspicuous, but very cute and interesting in behavior. They feel good only in a flock, they like clean, oxygenated water.

Unlike other corridors, they do not sit only in the bottom layer of water, but prefer to “flit” all over the aquarium, like a flock of birds.

8. Cardinal:

Prefers neutral water, rather cool (18-21 °). For 1 fish requires 3 liters of water. Small fishes, 3-4 cm, quite mobile. They love the abundance of plants, omnivores.

9. Micro disassembly:

An ideal fish for a nano-aquarium. Body length rarely exceeds 2 cm. Water temperature is 22-28 degrees, unpretentious to the composition of water, 1 fish requires less than 1 liter of water. Unfortunately, micro-assemblies are now rarely available, aquarists have been waiting for these fish to be delivered to stores for months.

10. Norman Blue-Eye:

Cute schooling fish that grow up to 3-4 cm. Their eyes glow brightly with neon light, which gives the aquarium a kind of dynamics and charm.

Peaceful schooling fish, water temperature 20-25 degrees. I live at a higher temperature, very active and playful.

And so, we looked at fish that would be happy even in a small aquarium of 10-30 liters.

Approximate settlement options:

10 liter aquarium:

ONLY ONE OF THE PROPOSED OPTIONS!

• 1 cockerel;

• 5-7 guppies;

• 5 neons;

• 5-7 guppy endler;

• 10-13 microassembly;

• 5 Norman blue-eyed;

• 3-4 cardinal;

• 5-10 Danio-rerio;

• 7 micro-sampling + 5 danio-rerio;

• 3 Endler guppies + 5 danios-rerio;

• 3 neons + 3 guppies.

20-liter aquarium:

• Family of cockerels (1 male and 3 females);

• 1 cock + 3 corridors;

• 10-15 guppies or Endler's guppies;

• 15-20 Danio-rerio;

• 10-13 neons;

• 10-15 Norman blue-eyed;

• 7 cardinals;

• 20-30 microassembly;

• 7 pygmy corridors;

• 5 guppies + 5 neons;

• 15 Danio-rerio + 15 microassembly;

• 10 guppies + 3 corridors;

• 7 neons + 3 corridors.

30-liter aquarium:

Here the possibilities are even greater) For example, such fish may be settled, which I did not tell about here. A pair of macropods, a couple of honey gouras, a pair of pelvicahromis or apistograms.

The remaining combinations - we look at 10 liters and multiply the number of fish by 3.

Naturally, it is better to run less fish than planned. Overcrowding is very dangerous for such small volumes. In any case, filtration, aeration and a weekly water change of 20-30% should be provided.

Nowadays, shrimpers are coming into fashion - aquariums populated with freshwater prawns.

Shrimps are unpretentious, cute and very interesting.

Aquarium SHRIMPS:

1. Cherry shrimp (cherry):

Small (up to 3 cm) red shrimp. Extremely unpretentious. It breeds well in an aquarium.

2. Amano shrimp (Japanese pond):

More than a cherry (up to 6 cm). Gray, perfectly fights with algal fouling. In an aquarium where shrimps live, the plants are always clean and well maintained.

In captivity do not breed.

3. Shrimp Crystal:

Small (2 cm), expensive, rather demanding to water, but very beautiful shrimp.

4. Shrimp Cardinal:

Very beautiful and very rare shrimp. It is considered difficult in leaving.

5. Yellow shrimp:

Unpretentious small shrimp bright yellow. If it is undernourished, it can begin to spoil the plants.

If you want to keep only shrimp (without fish), then you can plant a rather large flock in a small volume. For example, 20-25 shrimp-cherries will feel great in 10 liters.

Shrimps do not touch the fish, but some fish are not averse to eat shrimp. Therefore, the ideal neighbors for shrimp will be small fish, such as the Endler guppies, microassemblies, neons, corridors and Norman blue-eyes.

The calculation is approximately as follows:

20 liters: 10 shrimp-cherries + 5-7 guppies Endler (or other small fish).

Shellfish in an aquarium:

Some snails are also quite cute and even useful. They will be excellent neighbors for your fish or shrimp.

1. Helena:

A cute striped snail that feeds on ... other snails. It helps to get rid of the invasion of pond snails and coils that spoil the plants. For lack of "live food" eats the remnants of fish food. It breeds well in an aquarium.

2. Neretina:

Beautiful and useful snail. Helps to clear a raid from walls and plants. It lays caviar, but the whites do not appear in fresh water.

3. Ampularia:

The most favorite snail, very often found in aquariums.

Unfortunately, some types of ampoulyaries spoil the plants. And there is a lot of dirt from them.

RESULTS:

I tried to introduce you to creatures that will feel great in a small (10-30 l) aquarium. Aquarium with small, nimble fish or business-like shrimps will greatly decorate your apartment or office. With proper and timely care, he will long please you.

About how to run an aquarium, I wrote in the article "The underwater world on your desk."

I repeat once again simple rules that will help you to always keep your aquarium in good condition:

1. DO NOT HURRY! The launch of the aquarium should last at least 2 weeks (from the water up to the launch of the fish).

2. Down with artificiality! Plants, soil and decorations in the aquarium should be NATURAL. No plastic!

3. The filter should work around the clock !.

4. Water changes should be done once a week, at 20-30%. Never change all the water at once! Never wash the scenery with chemicals!

5. Feed the fish a little! One day a week - unloading.

6. If after you install the filter, there was a dregs - do not rush to change the water! All is well, the appearance of turbidity suggests that a balance has begun to be established. After a couple of days the water will be clean.

7. Do not overdo it with fish! Less is more.

8. Remember: an aquarium is a complex biological system. Do not climb there once again with your hands, do not make chemistry or other drugs.

9. Fish - also alive. And you are responsible for her life.

________________

There is nothing difficult in aquarism. Learn to be patient, do not neglect the advice, do not forget to devote half an hour a week to your underwater world - and he will thank you. Coming home, you will enjoy the lush green plants and frolicking fish.

Successes to all who decided to start an aquarium!

Next time I will try to tell you something else interesting from the world of aquarism)

I want to have not a large aquarium, which fish is better to take?

Natalia A.

Nothing of the kind, not all tsikhlidniki and somyatnik, a lot of other types of fish lovers, and then most of these fish are not for small cans. On the topic, you decide with the displacement, and from there you have to "dance".

OFF

For a small aquarium it is better to have small fish. The most unpretentious: this is a guppy.
I still like Danio: they constantly dangle around the whole tank in a group, they are very mobile and beautiful.
[link blocked by project administration]
Neons are still very beautiful.
[link blocked by project administration]
Blinn, the link they are checking.

Any that you like. And do not seek to buy a small vessel. The bigger, the better.
Ask any questions about the aquarium and the maintenance of the fish in the new aquarium forum. We are waiting for your questions. We respond quickly.

Elena Gabrielyan

The most optimal amount for a beginner from 50 liters and above. It is easier to establish biological balance in it, to install the necessary equipment.
And from the simplest fish you can advise once you are a novice and the aquarium will still be less than 40 liters
1. Guppy
2. Pecillia
Can be kept together
3. Aquarium with Harazinka Danio (Leoprdovy, Pink), Minory, Cardinals (schooling fish are taken from 5 pieces - get along well with each other)
3. Honey Gourami (?)
4. At the bottom of 2 - 3 speckled catfish, certainly antsistrus.

11 quick tips for a novice aquarist
1) Do not immediately buy a small aquarium, take at least 60-80 liter, if, of course, at home there is a place for it. Larger aquariums are more resistant to temperature and chemical changes. Recently, the trend is for nano aquariums (aquariums up to 20 liters), but it is better to start with a larger aquarium.
2) Wash the filtering elements of your filter only in aquarium water (not in the aquarium itself), for example, in a bucket or basin, this will allow you to save those bacterial colonies that in turn help you in the fight against ammonia and nitrite. Tap water can kill them, which for some time will disrupt the biological work of your filter.
3) Do not forget and do not be lazy to replace every week 20-25% of water, this will allow you to fight with nitrates in your aquarium. And remember that you should not, as 80% of people in our country thought, pour out all the water once a year and boil the soil, it’s enough to replace 20-25% of the water with fresh water, which will ensure a long and happy life of your aquarium.
4) Do not overfeed fish, it is very important. Firstly, overfeeding harms the fish itself (here you can look at people, overeating was not good for anyone), and secondly, the food that was not eaten starts to rot in the aquarium (the smell of the swamp), which significantly spoils the water quality.
5) Always check the compatibility of the purchased fish. You must admit that nobody saw an open-air cage with wolves, penguins and rabbits living together in a zoo. In the aquarium just as well.
6) Do not release a new fish from the bag or bottle directly into the aquarium, first place this bag in the water to even out the temperature, then add 50-100 ml of water from the aquarium into the bag, the bottle - this is done in order to level the parameters water. It is better to do this alignment within 20-30 minutes, no less.
7) Before buying fish, inspect it very carefully for damage, cloudiness, sores and other abnormal condition.
8) Use the quarantine aquarium for newly arrived fish, this will help to keep the fish that you already have. The question is especially acute when the fish is not cheap, and in any case, the fish after some time become full members of the family and we, aquarists, need to take care of their health. So just in case keep a quarantine aquarium where you can watch a new fish for a couple of weeks for its health.
9) Run the aquarium consistently, so as not to overload the filtration system. The filtration system as a human body, if it is trained gradually, it will give a greater result than if you immediately give a greater load. Colonies of bacteria develop gradually with increasing load, so do not immediately run all the fish that you have identified yourself.
10) Do not believe the rule of 1 cm fish = 1 liter of water, who invented it and when, but this rule is not entirely correct.
11) Do not get carried away using chemicals, especially if you do not fully understand their effects and the consequences of their use.
12) Do not buy at the same time an aquarium and fish. To start, you need to purchase an aquarium, then start it up - put a well-washed, good soil, fill it with water, turn on the filter and let stand for several days. From now on, the filter can no longer be turned off. Then buy plants, plant them, and from this point on, turn on plant lighting in the aquarium.Living plants (not plastic) in an aquarium will noticeably simplify your life, they will create a favorable habitat for fish closer to nature, and also help in restoring the water balance by absorbing nitrites and nitrates harmful to fish. And only in a week or two it is possible to bribe fish and run into an aquarium - and then not in a crowd. Otherwise you will have a case.
It is worth remembering that the path to success in aquarism is through scooping up new and new information through books, magazines, forums and aquarium portals that help us to succeed in our hobby.

Question to the author: A small aquarium in your understanding, how many liters is it ?? ? The fact is that it is possible to purchase 20 liters - it is considered small in volume, and 70-80 liters - the same thing ... In such cases, if you want to get a specific answer, then you need to indicate your desires in a wider format. Because the answers of each to this account will be different, which is why we will scare you away from the whims of starting fish. Or maybe you should put a bug in a small aquarium? Also, by the way, the option is not bad ...

How many fish can you get in the aquarium 50 liters?

Several

One is not very big or many very small :)
Basic tips on choosing fish in a small aquarium
So you want to populate an aquarium with 50 liters or within it.
First advice: you should not put any predators into such an aquarium. You can purchase small fish without thinking about what will grow from them. Therefore, be sure to ask the seller what is the maximum size of an adult.
Tip two: do not get rare and expensive fish. In such an aquarium, it is difficult to consistently maintain an optimal regime, and if the eco-balance is suddenly disturbed (for example, due to oversupply of food), then it is these fish that will die first.
Tip Three: Do not start a large number of fish. Approximately one fish with a length of 5-7 cm should be 3-5 liters of volume of the aquarium. So, consider yourself!
Tip Four: Do not start "mixed" fish, that is absolutely not combined in their behavioral responses. For example, some fish are inactive, others are in constant motion, etc.
Tip Five: Get fish so that the vital volume in the aquarium is filled with them evenly. For example, there are strictly territorial fish and if they occupy a large part of an already small aquarium, then it will cause great inconvenience to other fish. In addition, try to evenly pick up the fish vertically: combine the fish living in the bottom layer of the aquarium with the fish living in the middle layers and the fish usually swimming near the surface.
Possible fish combinations for small aquariums
Now we give several combinations (of course, there may be an infinite number of them) of various types of fish that can be kept together in a small aquarium.
Combination one: 10 guppies + 5 danios + 3 speckled catfish + 3 swordsmen.
The second combination: 10 neons + 5 swordtails + 3 catfish antsistrus + 5 petsyli.
The third combination: 10 barbs of mossy + 5 barbs of Sumatran + 5 swordtails + 3 speckled catfish.
The fourth combination: a pair of apistogramm butterflies + 10 neons + 5 mossy barbs + 3 catfish.
This series can be continued for a very long time.
In the end, the composition and number of fish in an aquarium, even a small one, depends only on the taste and financial capabilities of its owner.

Regarding the number of fish in an aquarium, it is difficult to say anything definite. You can still recommend planting fish in a windless aquarium with a volume of 40-50 liters in such an amount that each fish up to 5 cm long had at least 2 liters of water, 8–10 cm long — 3-4 l, and over 12 cm –8 10 l. As you can see, the main factor here is both the volume of the aquarium itself, as well as a certain type of fish and its size.

Fish always grow in size of an aquarium. The larger the aquarium, the larger the fish the smaller the aquarium. The fish will remain the same. You can buy 4-7 gold ones, preferably small ones so that they grow up to the size of the aquarium, and if they are fine as a guppy, then all 150 fit.

I want to get the fish where to start. What kind of water to fill in the aquarium

"first you need to buy an aquarium and wash it for a week", but why :)? To extend the fun launch of the aquarium :)
ANDREY ANDREYEV, as I understand the most banks yet, then I will begin:
1. Better to buy an aquarium of at least 50 liters
2. Next, you will need to buy a filter (but better, of course, a pump with a sponge): so that the water in the water mixes, and it is necessary so that the temperature in all water layers is the same, as well as to saturate the water with oxygen, also on the pump sponge beneficial bacteria accumulate (so now you understand that this equipment is mandatory for an aquarium !!)
3. Thermometer: so that you always know what the temperature of the water in the aquarium
4. Thermo heater: necessary to raise the temperature of the water in the aquarium (but you can not buy it if you have a temperature in the room where the aquarium will stand, the temperature does not fall below 24 degrees)
5.lamps (I have energy saving with a temperature range of 4200K (this spectrum is well suited for living plants)), lamps are necessary for living plants, if artificial plants are planned, then you can take with a temperature spectrum of 6400K (under this spectrum, the fish look beautiful)
6.Grunt: it is best to buy the soil with a fraction of 2-3 mm. A layer of soil is better so that there is at least 3-4 cm, then let's talk about launching the aquarium:
1. Place the substrate under the aquarium at the place where the aquas will stand (you can make the substrate of foam)
2. wash the aquarium with warm water and a sponge
3. wash the purchased soil in the bucket (so that there is no dirt left in the soil), you can boil it (but I did not do it)
4. we fill in water from the tap to half akvas
5.Fill soil (washed in a bucket) in the aquarium
6. install the equipment (pump with a sponge, thermometer, thermal heater (if necessary)), turn on all this equipment after you have completed step 8
7. Set the scenery
8. fill the water to the end
9. The next day we plant live plants in the ground.
10. Turn on the lamps (the lamps must be switched on at least 9 hours a day, but for the first time no more than 4-5 hours, otherwise we can’t avoid algae)
11.day after 4 you can run 2 somics (preferably corridors, resistant somiki ... checked by me :))
12. A few days after launch, the water will cloud, so do not worry, after a while the water will become clear.
13. 2 weeks later you can run any fish you want (well, of course those that are suitable for your volume)
Attention!! ! Immediately start a lot of fish should not be (fraught with a bacterial outbreak, and therefore the death of your population in aquas)
Then talk about the care of aquas:
1. We do not change the water in the first month after the launch of the aquarium at all (do not change the month !!!)
2. After that, it will be necessary to change the water once a week at 20-30%
3.After you run the fish in the aquarium they should not be fed for 2 days (this is due to the fact that the fish must adapt to your aquas)
4. further it is best to feed the fish (young 2 times a day, adults once a day), and arrange a discharge day once a week (i.e., not feed at all once a week)
5. Also, as long as you still have not grown plants, it is necessary to siphon the soil (once a week) in places where the plants are not planted.
6. clean the glass as needed (you can clean it with a scraper, or you can do it yourself as described on the site //www.aqa.ru/forum/vt171728)
"2. After this, it will be necessary to change the water once a week at 20-30%" - at this point I forgot to write that the water must be defended for at least 9 hours (it is necessary for chlorine to disappear from the water), (I do so : I pour water into a bucket (10 liters) and leave the water to stand overnight, then pour water from the aqua (hose) into another (empty) water bucket, then pour (with a bucket :)) waste water into the aquas)
Well, for the care of aquas I kinda wrote everything :)
Good luck in the aquarium!

Elena Ivasenko

Buy an aquarium, filter or compressor, thermometer - to measure the temperature in the aquarium, the water heater - to maintain a certain temperature in the aquarium - from 20-26 degrees, each fish needs its own temperature, the optimum is 24.Water defended. Then buy soil, plants and fish compatible between by myself.

11 quick tips for a novice aquarist
If you have recently taken a great interest in aquariums and decided to create a small piece of wildlife in your home and put your first aquarium - this article is for you. In it, I tried to give a few basic tips that you will need when starting your first aquarium.
1) Do not immediately buy a small aquarium, take at least 60-80 liter, if, of course, at home there is a place for it. Larger aquariums are more resistant to temperature and chemical changes. Modern aquariums are assembled on silicone, so that they are fully ready for work and do not need to be washed. Install an aquarium with the necessary equipment, fill it with water, turn on the aerator, heater, filter. When the water warms up, you can land the plants. Let the aquarium work without fish for two weeks. And only then you can run the fish.
